Lesser Kan & Li
Enlightenment and Birth of the Immortal Fetus
You will find literally means water and fire. The Chinese formula Siaow Kan Li (Yin and Yang Mixed) literally steams the sexual energy (Jing) into life force energy (Chi) in order to feed the soul or energy body.
The formulas in the lesser Enlightenment help to give birth to the soul body, an awakening of that part of yourself, which is free from environmental and karmic conditioning. The birth of the soul is not metaphor. It is an actual process of converting energy into a subtle body.
Greater Kan and Li
You will find all the information needed to continue your practice of the Kan and Li meditations. In the Lesser Kan and Li, you learned to establish a cauldron in the navel. In this, the Greater Kan and Li, a new cauldron is re-established at the solar plexus, where most of the Greater Kan and Li meditation transpires.
The techniques of Greater Kan and Li include the coupling of hot and cold energy at the solar plexus, an extension of the steaming procedures taught in Lesser Kan and Li, and the creation of domestic animals and virgin children by the transformation of pure organ energy.
Greatest Kan and Li
Gathering the Cosmic Light
You will find the essence of the Greatest Kan and Li practice is the establishment of the cauldron at the Heart Center, also known as the Middle Tan Tien or Cinnabar Palace, and the further refinement of the soul and spirit. It is at the Heart Center that most of the Greatest Kan and Li practices take place. The coupling of the energies here, involving macrocosmic-microcosmic energetics, is the central formula.
The Kan and Li practices point to the Taoist road to spiritual immortality and Taoist internal alchemy. The immortal fetus is produced, nurtured and finally matures into a spirit body which unites one with the Tao. Master Mantak Chia is the first Taoist to introduce this spiritual discipline to the Western public.
